The Resurgence - From Concept to Creation

Well this week the cameras start rolling, and what a journey it's been to get to this point.   From those moments when I had this idea, trying to piece together a coherent story.   To right now, as I sit here writing this feeling insanely grateful for the support of my amazing team, along with family and friends, to get us to this moment.

It's taken 18 months to get to here, and it almost feels like it's just the beginning. After we wrap in a couple of weeks time we still have to put it all together and get it out for all you to watch. Right now however, I just want to focus on this part of the journey.  As with everything it all started from a little seed, that planted it self in my mind.  My friends would have to deal with me constantly talking about this film, every little detail or problem with the story I would encounter.  Slowly but surely, it all took shape and the script fell into place very quickly.

Over my time of writing scripts I have learnt one important thing, don't be too precious with your ideas, get that feedback and take it on board.  I know I am not a genius and I am only seeing things from my own perspective. Those out side eyes can provide so many valuable ideas that will only strengthen the film which is our main goal in the end, to tell a great story. I didn't let as many people read this script as I have in the past with other scripts, only because I actually had the budget to make this thing happen sooner rather than later.

After the script was complete as a whole story; obviously there have been many changes since the original draft, so much so that I just locked off the very final tweaks last week.  This evolution of the script is such a crucial component to the growth of the film. Somethings will change, somethings will not and then somethings will but after a while will change back.  The more open you are to this process the more you will find, actors will bring things to the characters that you hadn't seen, locations will bring things to the story that weren't previously there along with so many more things if you are open.

After I let go of making this film on my lonesome a crazy thing happened.  I met some amazing people who kept introducing me into more amazing people.  As my producer and I got to work, hunting locations, building an amazing crew, then locking down cast the past eight months has flown by. With a stellar cast and one hell of a crew going above and beyond in every way possible it isn't luck that we have made it this far.  It's courage, hard work, dedication and above all else passion.  This team is the most passionate team I have ever been apart of over my 12 years as an actor and it's phenomenal.  I am insanely excited to watch this all come together over the next two weeks and hopefully we will keep you all up to date with the progress of the shoot.

Stay Tuned... :)
